Sing a New Song Children’s Choir
'Sing a New Song' is a singing experience for children in Year 4 and above, including those of secondary school age. It is the product of a collaboration between our benefice and the Church of St. John, Loughton, to give children the opportunity to release and enjoy using their voices in song.
The group sings in a mix of styles, including both secular and sacred music. It's not just about the music though! They also learn how to use their bodies well, how to look after their voices, and how to create community and have fun together.
The choir meets on Thursdays at St John's Church, Loughton, with sessions running after school and through most of the school holidays. The church is open from 4.00 p.m., with the choir singing from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. Children can be left in the care of the leaders (once a contact and consent form has been completed) and collected up to 6.00 p.m. There is no session on August 21st.
Plans to run the activity additionally in Waltham Abbey are on hold pending a review of the best time and place to do so. All are welcome at the Loughton sessions in the meantime.
These sessions are completely free and will include light refreshments for the participants. All are welcome. If you would like your child to join the group, please contact the Director of Music.
